Did you know that our Women’s Imaging Department provides a complete breast imaging pathway in one location? Services include the latest in diagnostic technology with the MAMMOMAT B.brilliant 3D Mammography system, Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM), breast MRI, breast ultrasound, and interventional procedures such as biopsies and FNAs.
The new MAMMOMAT B.brilliant system offers exceptional image quality at a lower radiation dose, while also incorporating advanced comfort features to reduce patient anxiety. Its intelligent design streamlines workflow, allowing earlier detection and greater reassurance for patients.
What this means for our patients:
- Gentle & Comfortable – designed with women in mind
- Clearer Images – advanced technology for early detection
- Fast & Easy – shorter scan times for your convenience
- Lower Dose – brilliant quality with less radiation
- Peace of Mind – precision you can trust
Since July, women with a specialist referral can now access bulk-billed breast MRI scans (where Medicare criteria are met), making advanced breast cancer imaging more accessible. Private consultations with breast imaging specialists are also available to tailor screening according to individual risk and breast density.
Why screening matters
Did you know that one in six breast cancer diagnoses occurs in women aged 40–49? Research shows that beginning regular mammograms from age 40 leads to the greatest reduction in breast cancer deaths. By detecting cancers earlier—often before symptoms appear—screening gives women the best chance for effective treatment and positive outcomes. Studies show that regular mammograms reduce breast cancer deaths by around one-third in women aged 40 and over. Early detection saves lives.
Patient-Centred Care
Noosa Radiology’s patient liaison, Katrina Kellett, emphasises the importance of comfort and reassurance during what can be a stressful time: “Our practice aims to relieve the anxiety and discomfort many women experience when undergoing breast screening. We understand this can be overwhelming, so the patient is always our first consideration.”
Owner and Managing Radiologist Dr Drew McMenamin agrees, highlighting the clinic’s investment in technology: “We have invested in the most advanced breast imaging systems, including the MAMMOMAT B.brilliant 3D Mammography, Contrast-Enhanced Mammography, and Breast MRI, to give our patients the peace of mind that comes with imaging accuracy.”
Commitment to Quality
All mammograms at Noosa Radiology are double-read by two qualified radiologists in accordance with the national Breast Screening Policy. In addition, every image is checked onsite at the time of examination. If any abnormality is detected, further imaging can often be performed immediately — reducing delays and uncertainty for patients.
With its ongoing commitment to innovation, expertise, and patient care, Noosa Radiology continues to strengthen its role as a trusted leader in radiology services for the Sunshine Coast community.
