November is Mens’ Health Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. During November to help change the face of men’s health, we are supporting men’s health by growing a Mo and accepting donations on behalf of the Movember movement.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer affecting men in Australia. The good news is that early detection dramatically improves survival rates. November, recognised as Men’s Health Awareness Month, serves as an important reminder for men — particularly those over 50 or with a family history of prostate cancer — to take proactive steps in managing their health.
We are committed to supporting early detection and better outcomes through access to the most advanced imaging technologies available.
Next-Generation PSMA PET/CT Imaging
Noosa Radiology offers Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) Digital PET/CT imaging — a breakthrough in prostate cancer diagnosis and staging.
PSMA PET/CT scans combine anatomical and functional imaging, delivering unmatched accuracy. They are capable of identifying even the smallest cancerous cells that may be missed by traditional imaging, making them invaluable both for initial diagnosis and for assessing the extent of disease to guide personalised treatment.
“PSMA PET scans are a significant leap forward in how we diagnose prostate cancer. They allow us to detect cancer at earlier stages, providing patients with more effective and tailored treatment options,” explains Dr Lisa Tarlinton, dual-trained radiologist at Noosa Radiology specialising in prostate imaging.
Advanced MRI: Clearer, Faster, Smarter
Alongside PSMA PET/CT, Noosa Radiology has recently upgraded its 3T MRI machine, further enhancing the ability to detect and assess prostate cancer with precision. This next-generation platform delivers clearer, more detailed images of the prostate, reducing the chance of false negatives and unnecessary biopsies.
“There have been significant advancements in hardware, software, and AI in these systems,” says Dr Drew McMenamin, Owner and Managing Radiologist. “With PET/CT–MRI fusion, we can combine functional and anatomical imaging for superior diagnostic confidence. Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive radiology service in the region, and we will continue to invest in world-class technology for our community.”
Since July 2025, Noosa Radiology has been fully Medicare-licensed for MRI, allowing the majority of scans to be bulk billed.
Don’t Delay — Get Checked
Prostate cancer often develops silently, with no symptoms in its early stages. This is why regular screening is so important:
- Men over 50 should discuss prostate health checks with their GP
- Men with a family history of prostate cancer should consider starting screening from age 40.
Early detection saves lives. If you have concerns about your prostate health, speak with your GP about screening options and referral for advanced imaging.
